Established in August 20, 2009, Del Norte is a proud member of the nationally acclaimed Poway Unified School District. DNHS is the fifth (and last) comprehensive high school to open in PUSD. Located on a gorgeous 62-acre site on the edge of a blurred line separating 4S from Del Sur, the $105 million state-of-the-art campus was carefully and thoughtfully engineered to support 21st-century students and learning.
As impressive as the facilities are, it’s the people who make Del Norte distinctive. The dream for Del Norte has always been to create a school environment where everyone belongs, where everyone is valued, supported, and safe, and where everyone contributes. We call it Home Court Advantage. We don’t want students to simply attend this school; we want them to identify with it - to feel a sense of ownership and pride. Like
The dream for Del Norte has always been to create a school environment where everyone belongs, where everyone is valued, supported, and safe, and where everyone contributes. We call it Home Court Advantage. We don’t want students to simply attend this school; we want them to identify with it - to feel a sense of ownership and pride. Like family, there should be a place for everyone at the table. It should not matter that you rent an apartment or live in the Crosby Estates. It should not matter if you can throw a baseball 90mph or play a double high C note on the trumpet. Everyone has a gift, and each individual adds value to our community.
Del Norte High School, located in the newly established communities of 4S Ranch and Del Sur, opened in 2009-2010 with freshman and sophomore classes, adding a class each subsequent year until all grades, 9-12, were offered in the 2011-2012 school year. Today, the $105 million facility supports over 2,000 students.
Del Norte High School, the fifth and last comprehensive high school to be opened in the Poway Unified School District, is state-of-the-art. The school's design has taken into account the rapid transformation of technology and is equipped to respond to new mediums of communication as they emerge.
Del Norte has 45 standard classrooms, 12 science labs, 11 vocational education classrooms, 6 physical education classrooms, 5 art labs, 5 special education classrooms, 2 music classrooms, a drama classroom, a performing arts center, an ASB classroom, and a host of athletic facilities including a competition-size swimming pool, a sports stadium with a track, a gymnasium, weight training rooms, shower and locker rooms, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, handball courts, outdoor basketball courts, and lots of open space to support soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, color guard, and marching band, as well as intramural sports.
Since opening in 2009, Del Norte has been recognized as a CA Distinguished School and earned a six-year Clear WASC Accreditation—both in the first year of eligibility. Additionally, Del Norte has been recognized nationally as a top-performing high school in publications like Newsweek, US News and World Report, and the Washington Post.

This Athletic Foundation was established in 2017 to bridge the large gap between student-athletes' needs and state and district funding by raising money through donations, sponsorships, and special events.
Their mission is to provide financial and material support for all Del Norte High School athletic teams. Working with leaders in the secondary school community, youth sports organizations, and local businesses, we engage the greater Del Sur and 4S community to support our athletes. Giving our student-athletes every opportunity to compete and win will increase the visibility of all teams, raising the profile of our athletic programs and Del Norte High School. We succeed when we develop a top-tier athletic program, increase college and university recruiting and acceptance, and improve employment opportunities with local, national, and global companies for DNHS student athletes.
